About Directory of Great Deals: Notes From the PublisherOne of the biggest problems that most individuals and families have is lack of time. I developed the concept for this site in 1999 with the goal of making some people's lives a little bit easier. Directory of Great Deals is dedicated to giving busy individuals and families free tools, tips and resources for saving money, time and energy.Over the last 25 years, my work as a Registered Nurse has slowly shifted from working in hospitals -- I've worked in Intensive Care Units and Medical-Surgical Units as well as a Director of Nursing -- to working with patients in the community. What I've seen shocked me!So many people in the community have very complicated lives.A lot of women are very busy with their multiple roles as a wife, mother, homemaker, professional or entrepreneur in addition to caring for aging parents, sick or troubled relatives. Many men are busy with their jobs and families in addition to running a business.Stay-at-home moms and working moms are usually dealing with a lot of stress due to lack of time and/or money as well as being loaded with so many responsibilities. Single and divorced moms or dads have an even tougher situation when they do not have a very supportive partner, ex-husband or ex-wife -- they often have to deal with family problems and issues alone.Just like most of you, I've also dealt with time and budget-related challenges and issues. My life has also been very complicated. A few years ago, I went back to school; I got my Master's degree in Biological Chemistry. It was tough because in addition to graduate work, I was also working part-time and caring for my young son (I'm a single/divorced mom).Even as an undergraduate student (I got my Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Chemistry after I finished an Accelerated Program in Registered Nursing), I was very busy. I was going to school full-time and working part-time to support myself and my (now ex-) husband (he was a law student and is now a partner in a law firm). Of course, things got even busier when I became a mom.My life is less stressful these days, but it's still complicated. In addition to publishing and updating this web site and 2 blogs ( 2FindTrueHappiness.com and Simple Living Tips ), I still see patients a couple of days a week, I have to do business marketing and management tasks, I provide long-distance care-giving for my mom in Southern California, I make quality-time for my family and friends, manage my stock market trading and investments, etc.In spite of my busy schedule, I would like to do more community service; so, I'm always trying to find ways to make more time for creative volunteering. I would like to have a dog, but I know that I won't be a good "guardian" at this time. Oh, well. One can't have it all. I do have plants that look good... not because of me, but because they've probably "learned" to be self-supporting :-).Just like most of you, I have multiple roles and a complicated life. A lot of the useful links I'm sharing in this site used to be my personal bookmarks. I hope this site helps you save more time, money and energy.
